Elven females generally give birth to a single child per pregnancy. On rare (and auspicious) occasions, however, they will have twins. The birth of twins is very important to the elven culture, and are said to be great portents. My investigations of this matter show that the interpretation of these signs vary greatly- sometimes relating to the destiny of the twins themselves, other times to events affecting the world at large. Whether the twins are the cause, or just the sign of these events is debated even among the elves. While I have been unable to prove causation or correlation, it is evident that the elves strongly believe this and such a birth will cause all kinds of ripples throughout their society.
