Sanas Saride

The city-state of Tul Amangier’s legendary battle banner is known as the Sanas Saride. Stories are told of its deliverance by Arathan Lightbringer, king of gods, to the chosen people to reward them for their eternal vigilance against the Undead forces of Angar the Undying. It has fluttered countless times atop one of the city’s three great walls.

The banner itself is 2 feet tall, mounted on a strange metal head with a socket on one end. A regular wooden pole can be therein socketed to give height to the banner. The banner’s blazon is a black background with a blazing yellow sun containing a clenched red-gauntleted fist. Around the banner’s edges are silver crenellations.

When unfurled, the banner’s power activates, extending to a 35’ diameter. It continually emits a Bless II (benefiting allies) and Fear II Spell (affecting enemies). Instead of the normal WPR Save (+10% for Fear II (SL 4)), enemies within the banner’s AoE Save at -22%. This is the equivalent of Spell Level 20!

In addition, four times a day, its bearer (even if a non-Mage) can invoke Destroy Undead. This Spell requires 14 Segments to activate, at the end of which the banner will emit streams of golden rays that strike all Undead within the 35’ AoE. All Undead must make a CON Save at -22% or suffer the Spell’s consequences at Spell Level 20.

History

This banner was lost in the great siege of Tul Amangier (in 5100), when the 2nd wall fell.

In 5280 a band of heroes choosen by Arathan found the banner in The North and returned it to Tul Amangier.
