Tradespeak is the most widespread spoken and written language in all of Veras. From the western shores of Anivere to the eastern shores of the Five Banners Kingdoms. From the dwellers of The North to The Goblin Marches in the south. There are few places one may go where a competent speaker can't be found. The language is the lifeblood of the merchant class. It allows them to deal across the continent and the islands beyond.

As the Alvenian Empire spread its wings across the land, a problem arose. Attempts to convert conquered nations to the Alvenian language meet with fierce resistance. Just after 3900 AGW a bureaucrat from the Territorial Office proposed using a primitive patois used among many of the merchants to tie the people together. The idea quickly caught on, and soon the newly dubbed Tradespeak become the non-official second language of most nations.

One of the main holdouts has always been the Tohongo Shogunate. While speakers can be found, the insularity of the people and lack of Alvenian influence has stifled its use there.
